Lead Software Developer (m/f/d)

You will play a leading role within the development team, consisting of 5-6 members, including QA, that is responsible for the publishing infrastructure of the Albion Online game. The tasks of the team encompass development and maintenance of the services such as the Albion Online website, an internal web tool for customer support, payment and mailing services, among other ones. The team also provides assistance in maintaining the services in the production environment.

As a Lead Software Developer you will:
  • Collaborate with the team to plan, actively develop, deploy, and maintain high-quality software in alignment with business priorities within a full-stack development framework. While maintaining this focus, you will primarily engage in server-side Java development, which constitutes approximately 80% of all tasks
  • Work closely with the product owner, business stakeholders, internal customers, and adjacent development teams involved in the game's production
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to both senior and junior software engineers
  • Establish quality standards and implement mechanisms and processes to enhance team efficiency
  • Make architectural decisions and select optimal tools to cover business needs
Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer in both backend and frontend development, with a primary focus on Java backend
  • 2+ years of leading and mentoring a team of software developers
  • Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot. But also practical experience with JavaScript and at least one frontend development technology (preferably ReactJS and PHP)
  • Practical knowledge of agile software development methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban
  • Proficiency in modern engineering practices consistently delivering high-quality code such as code reviews, pair programming
  • Strong understanding of microservice architecture, API design, REST and event driven communication. 
  • Experience with a broad technical stack, including PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Redis, ELK Stack
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with ReactJS and/or PHP
  • Experience with website development utilizing Content Management Systems (CMS)
  • Experience deploying and operating production applications in both public and private cloud infrastructures
  • Knowledge and experience in setting up CI/CD pipelines
  • Practical experience with Scala
